Visiting Juventude Xokleng – Mobile Recording Workshop

Intangible Sound of Contact has taken me to the Terra Indígena Laklãnõ (Indigenous Land Laklãnõ), around José Boiteaux in South Brazil. It was an honour and a wonderful experience to meet such engaged young people from @juventudexokleng! Together with @institutonow, we could make this Mobile Recording Workshop happen and get to know the people and the landscape in the Aldeia Figueira.

Armed with recorders and microphones, now the Xokleng Youth will interview the elders in the villages from the Indigenous Land Laklãnõ. We too are looking forward to knowing more about this ancient culture from South Brazil/Pindorama!

The big figueira in front of the house gives the name to the village.

Big thanks to Flora Holderbaum, Ariel Trindade, Rahel Aschwanden, Tchulun Gakran, Inhatan Tuxá and all the participants from @juventudexokleng, and Wolfgang Musil and Benedikt Kofler for donating 2 laptops.

Here is a short video documentation on instagram.
